Heart Healthy Benefits of Wine with Paraducci

My lovely RD friend Lauren with the Sustainable Red...as she said "The best red I have ever tasted!"

Happy New Year!  Many of you have started the New Year with lots of beautiful resolutions.  One of the best resolutions you can make if you are a fan of great wine, is to make your wine choice sustainable!  Paraducci Wine Cellars has some sustainable wine that is absolutely delicious!  I had the opportunity to taste the 2009 Paraducci Sustainable Red & White wines this holiday season and fell in love instantly.  The online retail price is $10.99 per bottle, which is a wonderful price for these wines.  They are perfect for gifts and to have on hand for hosting any gathering.  Paraducci is a "Family Farmed", locally owned and operated winery in California's Mendocino County.  This is their sustainable checklist for their wines:

  • Locally Owned & Operated
  • Grapes from Local Family Farms
  • 1st U.S. Carbon Neutral Winery
  • Sustainable Farming Practices
  • Earth-Friendly Packaging
  • 100% Green Power
  • Water Conservation & Recycling
I fully support drinking wine in moderation because there are so many health benefits associated with wine, particularly red wine.  The antioxidants in red wine may help prevent heart disease.  There is an antioxidant in red wine that is called the polyphenol reservatrol.  Reservatrol has been a hot topic in nutrition regarding it's potential to prevent damage to blood vessels and reducing the "bad" cholesterol in your system.  Other potential benefits include increasing your longevity, lowering your risk of stroke, reducing your risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and reducing your risk of colon cancer.  But remember, this is in moderation, which equals one 5 ounce glass of wine for women and two 5 ounce glasses for men.  Of course, if you do not drink, check with your physician before starting a wine regimen!  And if you are a wine drinker, make your wine sustainable and CHEERS to a new year!  Thanks to Paraducci for letting me sample your incredible wines!  They were a HUGE hit at my holiday party (the only two completely empty bottles of wine at the end of the evening)!  Follow Paraducci on Twitter and Facebook.

  1. Polyphenol reservatrol has been proven to lower the risk of heart disease and certain cancer. This is the reason why drinking wine in moderate amount ( around 30-50 ml a day) can make an individual healthy.

  2. That is really true. That element makes our heart stronger. It is also proven that wines help in the circulation. It makes our blood vessels healthier too. I love wines and I always drink 30 ml of wine a day. I never consume a bottle of wine in a day or even a glass of it. I want to be healthy so I need to follow some recommended dietary allowance and consumptions.

  3. Many people say that alcoholic beverages such as beer, brandy, gin, tequila and tequila have unhealthy effects to our body. I believe that these beliefs have been established to the people because alcoholic beverages are truly addicting. However, we have to except wine from the list of unhealthy alcoholic beverages because wine has some healthy benefits to our body. There are many health studies and researches proved the benefits of wine to our body such as prevention of hypertension, kidney stones and heart diseases. In fact, wine has been used by professional chefs around the world for their dishes not just for added flavor but also for added health benefits. Thank you for sharing this healthy article, I really like that information.

  4. One of the benefits of wine is that it helps a patient calm before dental care procedures. It temporarily numbs the patient and makes him braver to face any dental care procedures.

  6. The Atlanta sedation dentistry I went to this weekend also helped me relax before my dental implant by making me drink wine. It worked and I didn't feel much pain during the operation.

  7. Wines can be very beneficial if taken moderately. Wines are known for their therapeutic effects. Red wines are said to be more potent than white wines. Anyway, I love wines both red and white, and I always drink 30 ml of wine a day to make my heart and body stronger. One of my favorite brands of wine is the Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot from Australia.

  8. I would agree with Billy, wines can be very beneficial if taken moderately. It could also leave stains in your teeth if you take it so much than advisable.
